Vezel ("fezel") is a non-profit software organization founded in March of 2022 with a focus on creating and maintaining delightful developer-oriented software such as libraries, build tooling, and compilers. All of our software is open source and made available under the terms of the exceptionally liberal Zero-Clause BSD License to ensure that everyone can benefit from our work. Our finances are completely transparent on Open Collective.
This is the home of our documentation, both for the organization itself and its various open source projects.
Vezel's principal mission is to promote, advance, protect, and otherwise support the open source projects developed under the organization.
Among other minor tasks, Vezel handles the following:
Ongoing development and releases of the organization's projects.
Setup and management of public and private infrastructure required for development of the organization's projects.
Management and moderation of the official community areas of the organization.
Promotion of the organization's projects and technologies, and adoption thereof.
Fundraising for operational expenses and project development for the organization.
Vezel uses the following services:
Azure DevOps for publisher access to the Visual Studio Marketplace.
Cloudflare for domain name registration, DNS management, DDoS protection, and delivery optimization.
Discord for persistent instant messaging.
GitBook (sponsored) for documentation hosting.
GitHub (sponsored) for code and nightly package hosting, issue tracking, discussion forums, and automated builds.
Google Workspace for email and related services.
NuGet for .NET release package hosting.
Open Collective for transparent finances (expenses, donations, and payouts).
Open VSX for publishing Visual Studio Code extensions.
Visual Studio Marketplace for publishing Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code extensions.
Zulip (sponsored) for persistent, organized instant messaging.
Vezel's finances are completely transparent and can be found on Open Collective.
Vezel does not seek to advance the financial interests of its members, nor to maximize profit. Revenue is spent strictly on the following:
Funding maintainers of Vezel's open source projects.
Sponsoring developers of third-party open source projects that Vezel's projects depend on.
Operational costs for the organization (domain name, email hosting, software licenses, etc).
Vezel's only source of revenue is donations from its community. Donations are possible through the following channels:
Please note that donations are currently not tax-deductible.
